Well crap. It’s June 6th and I still haven’t posted the May summary. My lame excuse ? Multiple competing distractions.
As a side gig in the BMWCCA, I’m responsible for ensuring our club chapter submits an article for the semi-annual Bimmerlife magazine. Before we moved from Wichita to Bloomington in September 2020, I wrote an article about a BMW we purchased from Alex. Change of address in place, I received a new issue of Bimmerlife in the mail, and opened it to see what my previous chapter (Wichita) had offered, and then the Hoosier chapter to see what my new chapter provided. Was surprised to see only a paragraph loosely describing who, what and where the Hoosier chapter is, as a brief summary. I went to the BMWCCA Hoosier FB page and posted – why didn’t we submit an article, because what I saw was a “nothing-sandwich”. THAT got people’s attention and lively comments ! lol Several were like – hey dude, the club is an all volunteer organization, maybe you should get involved. I responded by saying: yup, been a member for 20 years in KS and OK. Look at the article I provided in the previous magazine located under the Kansas chapter. Boom. The chapter president called me to have a conversation about my Face Book post and if I would become the “media editor”. So here we are. I have ensured there is a high-quality contribution to every Bimmerlife magazine since 2021. I’ll summarize by saying this specific article cycle has been especially frustrating, waiting on the author to get me his article in time for the June 1 deadline to submit. Enough about that.
Making progress on the storage shed build. May was unusually wet providing more rain than we asked for. The rain stopped for the last week of May, allowing Kyle and I to start rough framing. The roof trusses went up yesterday. Because May was so rainy, I looked for indoor projects. The master closet door has been a problem since we moved in. It opened inward to the closet, which seemed like a good idea until we started using the closet. I relocateded the door so now it opens into the hallway. Check that off the list. I also had a project that I started a year ago, then realized how much effort was needed and immediately lost interest. The project involved emptying a large drawer on my Snap-on Tool Cabinet. I made a half-assed attempt to organize all of the metric and fractional, shallow and deep, 1/2″, 3/8″ and 1/2″ drive, regular and impact sockets. It was frustrating to keep all of them organized. Finally, told my self – dude, git ‘er done. IYKYK. lol Very happy with the result. A lesson learned – try hard not to procrastinate.
Sine this summary is very late and a bit fragmented… let’s call it a May Monthly Summary, and get on with June. I will do my best to be punctual.
